LUSH POWDERED SUNSHINE (SUNSCREEN IN POWDER FORM)

What is one think you hate about sunscreens? I would say the sticky, greasy feeling it gives and sometimes white cast. I am quite sure these might be your reasons for not wearing sunscreen or at least hating the poor thing. But hey, you know right, sunscreen is an inevitable part of your beauty regime. Not only when you are outdoors, sunscreen is necessary even when you are indoors. Today I am going to express my thoughts about a sunscreen, a powdered sunscreen.

Why I was particularly intrigued about the powdered sunshine is because it came in powder form. I never knew there was a sunscreen in powder form. And then when I visited a Lush store in Dubai, I discovered it. Plus the kind people from Lush were kind enough to offer this one for free. The staff at Lush in Mercato mall invited me for a shop tour and this was one of the items I received. Please keep reading to know what I think about the powdered sunshine from Lush cosmetics.

My take on the Lush powdered sunshine

thebeautymascot/lush powdered sunshine sunscreen

The packaging of the powdered sunshine is quite simple, a transparent plastic bottle with a black label where the product name and other details like ingredient list, method of using and product claims are mentioned. It has a flip-open cap. Not a fancy packaging, but you know right, Lush has no fancy looking packaging anyways. But the bottle is easy to carry and travel-friendly.

The powder is very very light pink in colour. It has a fragrance that is a mix of citrus and earthy aroma. I think the smell of patchouli is standing out as well. Patchouli has an earthy,  herbal scent. A very soothing and refreshing fragrance. It leaves a very mild scent on your skin which lingers for some time and disappears after a while.

thebeautymascot/lush powdered sunshine sunscreen

When you take the powder in your hand, you can feel the powder to be a bit coarse and grainy. When you apply the powdered sunshine on your skin make sure you dab and not rub. You can use a powder brush and just dust some powder on your face. Once applied on the skin you can hardly feel its on. What I wasn’t sure before trying this powdered sunscreen was that if it will look powdery or not and I must say even when I apply quite a thick layer of the sunscreen, it didn’t look powdery at all. Undetectable even on my tanned skin. It doesn’t feel greasy and really mattifies my skin and no white cast.

What I really have a problem with the powdered sunshine is regarding the SPF. SPF 15 is too low especially when I am outside in the sun. But I like to use it when I don’t have to stay under direct sunlight, mainly indoors. As I said you need SPF even when you are at home, so this will do. When in sun, I need an SPF of 50+. I also like using it on top of my makeup just like translucent powder and I must say it does a great job as a translucent powder as it sets my makeup and mattifies. It also gives a subtle shimmer somewhat like the HD powders and I love it. Plus I have the advantage of an SPF.

Lush suggests to re-apply the powdered sunscreen every 2 hours, just as any other sunscreens but I think it stays longer than that. One bottle contains 70g of the product. You don’t have to repurchase for a very long time because you need only a very small amount of the product.

One other advantage of this sunscreen is that you don’t have to wait for it to get absorbed into your skin. Just apply and go. I also like to use this a dry shampoo and I love the beautiful fragrance it leaves on my hair.

Not just that, why I like the powdered sunshine is because it actually soothed my skin irritation. I had a few bumps on my jawline due to an allergic reaction and this product really helped me in soothing it. But please don’t test any new product when you have an allergic reaction.

I think the main reason it helped is because it contains calamine, which we know is a soothing and antiseptic powder and is high in zinc oxide so works perfect as a sunscreen, along with olibanum oil which has toning and antiseptic effects. Also, I think patchouli might have helped as it has an anti-bacterial and cooling effect.

Unlike most Lush products, powdered sunshine has a bunch of scary looking ingredients. The two main ingredients apart from calamine, lime and lemon oils and corn flour are octyl methoxycinnamate and octocrylene. Don’t get scared by the name. Octocrylene is a compound which absorbs UVB and short-wave UVA, also acts as an emollient. Octyl methoxycinnamate which also absorbs UVB from the sun protecting the skin from damage and also helps to reduce the appearance of scars. (I googled :P)

For all those who hate to read a long post, Let’s just summarise

In love with:

  • Non-greasy, no white cast.
  • Easy to carry and travel-friendly.
  • Doesn’t look powdery even on tanned skin.
  • Stay long.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • Lovely fragrance.
  • Works great as a loose powder.
  • Mattifies the skin and gives a subtle shimmer.
  • Contains some great ingredients which helps is soothing the skin too.
  • Lush powdered sunshine can also be used as a dry shampoo. So it is basically a multi-purpose product.

Not in love with:

  • SPF is really low, just 15.
  • Powder is a bit grainy.

Overall, if you ask me if I would use it as a sunscreen when I am staying in the sun for a long time, I will not as the SPF is low. But when I stay indoors or when I don’t have to stay under direct sunlight I will use it. It helped to soothe and relax my skin so I would love to keep it. I can use it on top of my makeup as a loose powder and it mattifies and gives a beautiful glow to the skin.Which means this is not a product that must not be purchased, this is a great product but as a sunscreen it is just average. So I leave the choice to you!

EYE MAKEUP TIPS FOR OILY EYELIDS

Today is a special day for her because she was going on a date with the man of her dreams, the man whom she had a crush on like forever. And today she decided to do the makeup inspired by her favourite YouTuber. And how pretty she looked, the eye makeup was so good it made her beautiful green eyes even more beautiful. She wore the most beautiful dress. And everything was just perfect until she decided to check herself in the mirror for one last time. When she looked into the mirror she thought her best dream had converted to her worst nightmare. Her eyeshadow had creased, her eyeliner was all over. Oh! No! She had racoon eyes.

If this has ever happened to you or at least something similar then this post is for you, my friend!

Everybody has oil glands, the reason for oily eyelids is the glands which are located at the eyelash line. Like I said, everyone has it but some might have oil secretion even more, just like the case of our face. That doesn’t mean a person with an oily face will necessarily have an oily eyelid or vice versa. But I am sure if you have oily eyelids you know the struggle. You know how fast your eyeshadow creases and sometimes your eyeshadow looks patchy or lose intensity and you know how it feels when your eyeliner transfers to your top lids or fades.

We all have been there, me too! Until I learned some amazing eye makeup tips. Three simple steps to a flawless eye makeup for oily eyelids. Here I am not talking about makeup I am talking about the prepping you must do for your eye makeup to last long…and longer!

thebeautymascot/flawless makeup for oily eyelids

The three simple steps

Trust me it’s easy! I am not asking you to include more time-consuming steps to your makeup routine. These are easier than you thought and very important steps, if you have oily eyelids or not and it takes just 10 more seconds or so but saves the agony of your makeup becoming a mess just after a few hours of application. The process isn’t a big deal but the results are.

Step1: The cleansing

As much as it is important to apply makeup on a clean face, it is equally important to apply eye makeup on a clean eyelid. You don’t want any leftover mascara or eyeliner on your eyelids. All you have to do is use a makeup remover and wipe off any residual makeup or oil. For the lazy bones, you can use wet wipes instead.

I like using micellar water.

My suggestions:
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Water
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
Clinique Take the Day off makeup remover

Step2: Blotting

Yes, blotting! Even after you have wiped off the eyelids there might still be oil residue on your eyelids. You have to get rid of it as much as you can. If there is oil on your eyelids then once you apply eye makeup it breaks down the makeup, which we don’t want obviously. Moreover, if there is oil on your eyelids, your eye makeup will end up looking patchy. So for a flawless eye makeup, this step is very important.

My suggestions:
Boscia Green Tea Blotting linens
ELF Shine Eraser Oil Blotting sheets

Step 3: Eyeshadow primer

I am quite sure you are already using eyeshadow primers. Eyeshadow primers seal the oils of your skin away from your eye makeup and help your eye makeup last longer. It also helps in better pigmentation of your eye shadows and also a smoother application. You can also use concealer for this, but always remember to dust some loose powder on top of any cream/liquid concealers before applying eye shadows. And, please remember less is more when in this case too. You only need a very small amount of the primer.

My suggestions:

Urban decay eyeshadow primer potion

Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Primer

Nyx HD eyeshadow primer

Then do your magic. Play with eye shadows and create the look you want and may your eye makeup stay all day!

Few other eye makeup tips

  • If you have oily eyelids, start by applying thin layers of eye shadow and then build up the intensity. Don’t start with a thick layer.
  • When choosing eye makeup choose the ones that are long-lasting.
  • If you have extremely oily eyelids it is better to avoid cream eyeshadows at least avoid using these very close to the lashline. But there are some awesome cream shadows like the Maybelline colour tattoo, which stays all day.
  • If you are using cream eye shadows, it will be best if you can layer it with powder ones or at least try to dust a very very small amount of translucent powder on top. Similar is the case with eyeliner, if possible layer your eyeliner with an eyeshadow so that your eyeliner stays put for a longer time.
  • When choosing eye creams, take care of the formula, go for gels or oil-free ones that don’t leave your eyelids greasy. If your favourite eye cream makes your eyes look greasy, then save it for night time.

These are some of the eye makeup tips for oily eyelids for flawless eye makeup. Don’t forget to share your tips and tricks in the comment section below.

My review of the soap and glory wish upon a jar

thebeautymascot/soapandglorywishuponajar

This product was initially a collagen day cream and later they changed the formula and now it is a night cream. The packaging of Wish upon a jar is dope! I mean, seriously just look at it! It comes in a silver spherical tub, which looks like a ball, a sparkling one! The most difficult thing about this kind of packaging is that you cannot click a beautiful photo of the product without your image in it 😛

But I seriously love the packaging. This can be the perfect Christmas gift too. The night cream has a very luxurious texture, thick and rich. The texture of this cream makes it a great night cream especially during winters when my skin feels dry. Normally my skin feels super dry and stretchy during winter and if you live in UAE you know what I am talking about. But I must admit this year is a bit different, at least for now. This cream leaves my skin so smooth and soft. I also wake up with soft and supple skin.

thebeautymascot/soap and glory wish upon a jar

Moisturisation this cream gives is brilliant. I am sure this night cream will moisturise even the driest skin but not in a greasy manner. My skin is combination, more towards the oily side, and since it works for my skin, I think it will work for oily skin too. I have used this cream during summer season also, so I know. But the texture of this cream always made me feel it is great for winter. But summer or winter, my skin didn’t feel greasy and I absolutely had no breakouts. And at this point let me tell you, this cream claims to be for all skin types.

One thing which is not so pleasant about this cream is that it gives a feeling that something is on your face, not a really heavy feeling but still you know something is there. The smell of this cream I thought wasn’t good. But I know people who love the smell and say it’s chocolate orange. But I dislike the scent, gives me the feeling of a cheap face cream.

Where I have a problem with it is, actually I don’t a problem, but I am not sure if the claims of vanishing wrinkles and lifting your skin are true. But maybe it is because my skin doesn’t really have those issues. Maybe people with aged skin than mine might really have benefits with it. It claims to contain such amazing anti-aging components which are difficult to spell (please check the ingredient list and the product claim section).

Even though this is an anti-aging cream and I really am not sure if it delivers what it claims in that aspect, I love the results. It makes my skin soft, supple, radiant and brightened. What else can ask for in a night cream So I am really happy. I think the quantity you get it less. But nonetheless, I love Wish upon a jar from Soap and Glory.

thebeautymascot/soap and glory wish upon a jar

Overall

In love with

  • The silver sphere in which it comes.
  • The texture is so thick and rich.
  • Contains some really amazing anti-aging ingredients.
  • Really moisturises my skin and it lasts the whole night.
  • Leaves my skin softer, smoother, radiant and brighter.
  • Not greasy and does not break out my skin.

Not in love with

  • Quantity is less.
  • The scent.

Wish upon a jar is a great night cream as it moisturises my skin even during winters when my skin is dry, dull and stretchy and it leaves my skin softer, smoother, brighter and more radiant. I am not sure about erasing wrinkles or firming of the skin but I am really happy with what it gives.  I am rating it 4/5. Even though I believe wish upon a jar by soap and glory will be best for matured skin, I think others with younger skin also can give it a try as the results are amazing.

Have you guys tried Wish upon a jar? Which night cream are you currently using? Please leave a comment below as I would love to hear from you.

What I think about the Maybelline instant age rewind concealer

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind concealer

The Maybelline instant age rewind concealer comes in a transparent plastic tube packaging. Being transparent is definitely an advantage as you can see how much product is left to be used.

There is a sponge applicator at one end of the tube. Now the size of this applicator actually surprises me. It is a little larger than what you would expect for a concealer. The applicator is really soft but it will be difficult to use the applicator on smaller areas like the area around your nose clearly because the applicator size is quite big. That is if you choose to apply the concealer directly using the applicator. You can use a brush. Maybelline claims that the sponge applicator is protected with an anti-microbial system, so it is hygienic, I don’t buy it. Just after a few uses the sponge look and feel messy, I don’t know if that’s just for me though. You can remove the sponge part if you like as a lot of product gets soaked in the sponge.

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind concealer

To use the concealer, just twist the collar of the applicator, which is maroon in colour and is clearly marked with arrows. The product comes out on the sponge applicator. This part can be tricky too as you might end up twisting more than what is necessary and a lot of product might come out. this happened to me, thus causing product wastage.

What I really love about the concealer is its thin formula, so light-weight.It has medium to high coverage and covers my dark circles really well. I use a corrector underneath if my dark circles are really bad. Maybelline has a neutralizer shade from the same range, which is to be used under the concealer shade if you have extreme dark circles. I haven’t used the neutralizer so I cannot comment. It also covers blemishes and spots really well.

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind concealer

When you look at the concealer inside the tube it looks dark and on the applicator, it looks even darker than the real shade of the concealer. So keep that in mind when getting your shade. But I am sure you are wise enough to swatch and try before getting a concealer as it might be really tricky getting the right shade.

The concealer blends easily but remember to blend fast as it might dry quickly. The most important thing to note when using this concealer is that a little goes a long way. A very very small amount of product is actually required. When I first used it I had used more than what is required and ended up looking like a white plastic doll, no racism intended.

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind conceler

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind concealer

See in the above picture, on the right side of my hand, when compared to the left side I have used too much product so that side has a white cast.

Maybelline also has a brightener from the range for highlighting purpose. But the other concealer shades are also quite highlighting type. It brightens my under eye area. Not just that, I like using this concealer for highlighting rather than just concealing. It highlights but not at all shimmery, just the glow.

I haven’t experienced any creasing with the Maybelline instant age rewind concealer, nor has it settled into any fine lines and yes, I set it with a translucent powder. The staying power is also quite impressive, stays for 8+ hours. I don’t think the claim of this one being a treatment for dark circles and fine lines is true. It contains Haloxyl which helps to reduce dark circles. The concealer does not make my under eye area dry but it is not really moisturising as well. If the under eye area is on the drier side then you might need a really good moisturiser, as I believe, this one will look cakey otherwise.

Final verdict

In love with:

  • Medium to full coverage.
  • Lightweight texture.
  • Travel friendly.
  • Blends easily.
  • Does not settle into fine lines and no creasing.
  • Goes on smoothly.
  • Brightens under eye area.
  • Covers dark circles, blemishes and spots.

Not in love with:

  • Shade selection, you might not find the right shade.
  • If over applied will look cakey.
  • The applicator is large, soak up a lot of product, might not be hygenic.

Overall, I think the Maybelline instant age rewind concealer is a good one if you manage to find your perfect shade. The main issues I have is with the sponge applicator otherwise I really like the concealer. I rate it 3.5/5.

Have you used this concealer from Maybelline? Your thoughts?

And hey, The Beauty Mascot is a year old! Thank you for all your love and support! I love you guys, every single person! Thank you <3

DIY AROMATHERAPY BODY WASH

thebeautymascot/DIY Aromatherapy body wash

My life has been so chaotic lately, I was not feeling well, both mentally and physically. I am a Gemini, I think a lot! So by just trying not to think, which obviously is difficult for me, I have managed to stay positive and happy. Which means I am back on track. But my body still needs some extra something. And if I tell you about today, you probably don’t want me to explain everything so basically, I was feeling so tired. So before I unwind this da, I thought maybe I should get a great relaxing bath. It always helps!

But when I went through the ingredient list of my favourite Aromatherapy body wash….Oh Gosh! The list of chemicals used is even longer than the other good ingredients. Today I wasn’t ready for some extra sh*t hence I ditched it, for the time being, of course. I cannot fully do it, I am an addict you know 😛 but at least once in a while, I like to go all natural, and give my skin and body something like a detox and today I decided to make a DIY aromatherapy body wash with all great ingredients minus the chemicals. And I am really happy with the end product.

And this one costs far less than any body washes you get in the market and it is really easy to make. So easy! You just need to have some few things.

If you are interested then please continue reading.

Ingredients used

thebeautymascot/DIY Aromatherapy body wash

  •  1 bar castile soap (Get it here )
  • 4 cups distilled water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable glycerin (Get it here ) This is optional.
  • 2  tbsp almond oil (Get it here )
  • 20 drops eucalyptus oil (Get it here )
  • 20 drops sweet orange essential oil (Get it here )
  • 25 drops jojoba oil (Get it here )
  • 2tbsp Aloe vera gel (Get it here ) This is optional.
  • 20 drops peppermint oil (Get it here )

Black Friday: FREE 17-piece ultimate L’OCCITANE collection with any $160 purchase! Use code: BFBOX. Valid 11/24 – 11/27

This is how you make the Aromatherapy DIY body wash

  • In a stainless steel saucepan, take distilled water and bring it to a low boil.
  • Next, grate the castile soap and stir in the grated soap into the boiling water. Over low flame, stir until the soap is melted.
  • After removing from heat add glycerine, almond oil, jojoba oil and other essential oils and finally aloe vera gel. You can either add vegetable glycerin or aloe vera gel. You can also skip both if you don’t have it at home. The two ingredients are added to make our body wash thick.
  • Let the mixture sit undisturbed until is cooled.
  • And that’s how you make your very own Aromatherapy DIY body wash! Use it as you would normally use any body washes/shower gels. Just remember to shake well before using.

thebeautymascot/DIY Aromatherapy body wash

thebeautymascot/DIY Aromatherapy body wash

thebeautymascot/DIY Aromatherapy body wash

Few things to remember

  • You can use liquid castile soap instead of the castile soap bar. It is even easier when you use liquid castile soap. Just add all the other ingredients except distilled water and shake well.I didn’t have liquid castile soap today, I had the soap bar. Moreover, castile soap bars are cheaper than liquid ones.
  • If you don’t have all the essential oils, you can customise and add the ones you have.
  • You can check out the recipe for a very basic DIY body wash recipe here. This recipe needs only a very few ingredients.
  • I normally stock up my essential oils. I buy when I spot them in some stores or get it online. To make things easier for you, I have added links to make it easier for you guys. Hence this post contains affiliate links which means, if you make a purchase by clicking on the links, I get a very small referral fee at no cost to you.
  • Make sure the water you use is distilled as normal tap water will contain bacteria which will reduce the shelf life of the DIY body wash.
  • This body wash has a shelf life up to one year.
  • But the ingredients might separate so make sure you shake well before each use.

My review of Clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation

thebeautymascot/clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation

Let’s start with the packaging. The transparent cube packaging made of glass with gold lids looks absolutely luxurious as well as classy. Absolutely love how it looks. The lid has a small brush attached to it which clicks in and out of the lid. A brush with this is so thoughtful but to be honest, I am not a fan of this brush. The brush is too firm than what I would normally use. I agree, the brush is of good quality, but the firmness…just not my thing. But if you like using firm brushes, then it works great. That’s not it,I have more problems with the packaging. The screw cap, the attached brush which comes out as soon as you open the lid, altogether causes messiness and product wastage, at least for me.  Each time I use the powder, some amount of powder is definitely wasted.

But hey I told you I love it….Here comes the good things.

Talking about the texture, it has a really soft texture. The powder is very very finely milled that you hardly feel its powder. When you touch the foundation you know how soft it feels. The foundation has a floral fragrance, but does not irritate my slightly sensitive skin.

The foundation has light to medium coverage which is definitely buildable. The foundation lets you feel matte but there is a very very small sheen to it. This makes my skin glow and I absolutely love it. But I am not sure if due to this reason it will be a good fit for oily skin as it might make extreme oily skin look greasy. But if it does, it will be for extremely (in brackets) oily skin. For my combination skin which is inclined more to the oilier side has no issues at all. I love how smooth and polished my skin looks after applying this powder. The foundation contains pink opal powder which illuminates the skin and gives a natural, radiant glow.

thebeautymascot/clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation

For dry skin, there is not a single concern. This foundation does not accentuate any dry patches. It hasn’t made my pores look so obvious nor has it settled into any fine lines. It does not dry out your skin at all. This foundation does not look cakey nor does it feel heavy.

thebeautymascot/clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation

The Clarins skin illusion powder foundation stays for a long time, 8 hours without any touch-ups.

Now this is a powder foundation obviously you use it on top of a hydrating moisturiser, but you can use it as a setting powder on top of a bb cream or a liquid foundation, if you like using pigmented powders. I have used this powder foundation on top of my D&G perfect luminous foundation which I have reviewed a few days back and my skin looked flawless.

thebeautymascot/clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation

Final Verdict

In love with:

  • Soft texture.
  • Skin looks airbrushed and flawless.
  • Lasts long.
  • Gives a very natural look.
  • Light to medium coverage which can be buildable.
  • Blends well.
  • Does not magnify pores.

Not in love with

  • Packaging is beautiful but impractical. The brush attached is very firm.

Overall I really love the Clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation and give it a score of 4.8/5. Highly recommend!

Have you used the Clarins skin illusion loose powder foundation? Which is your favourite foundation at the moment?

DOLCE & GABBANA PERFECT LUMINOUS LIQUID FOUNDATION REVIEW

Hello girls and guys,

How are you all doing? My life has been a little bit crazy for a few days and now everything is back to normal. A few weeks back I went to Paris gallery to get a full coverage foundation. Full coverage foundations are not really my thing. Though my skin is not that perfect, I still love medium or light coverage foundations. But I should own a full coverage foundation, right? I actually went to get the Estee lauder double wear foundation, but the salesgirl claimed the Dolce & Gabbana to be better for my skin type, which by the way is combination. So I thought of trying it out. After using the foundation for a few times now, this is my review of the Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Luminous liquid foundation.

My experience with the Dolce & Gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation

thebeautymascot/dolce and gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation

The Dolce & Gabbana foundation comes is a transparent glass bottle with a gold top and the name and other things written in gold. The pump dispenser is our favourite right, this one scores a point here. Only the right amount of foundation comes out with a single pump, that’s a relief. I don’t want too much foundation to come out as the price is quite high.

thebeautymascot/dolce & gabbana perfect luminous foundation

I already told you I bought this foundation because I was told this was a full coverage foundation. Well, that’s not true. The foundation gives light to medium coverage, it also claims the same. Being said that, you can definitely build it up without looking like a ghost. The foundation has absolutely no fragrance, which I love. The formula of this foundation is my favourite part which contains some beneficial ingredients for the skin. The D&G foundation is not so thick, you hardly know you have it on! And my friends it blends seamlessly into your skin. It gives kind of a dewy finish but looks so natural. It’s like your skin is glowing naturally! So beautiful finish.

thebeautymascot/dolce & gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation

Another great thing about the D&G perfect luminous liquid foundation is that it is suitable for breakout-prone skin. The foundation stayed on my skin for 9 hours with primer and without any touchups, Yay! After 9 hours I had removed it. But if I don’t use a primer underneath the foundation, then my skin turns into an oily mess just after 4-5 hours. Which means a primer is necessary and I also think this foundation would not be a great choice for oily skinned beauties, even though it claims to be for all skin types. It does not look cakey and does not accentuate any dry patches on the skin. And for Instagram-worthy pictures, this one photographs really well.

I also love how the foundation hydrates my skin. So for dry skin, this foundation will be a boon. This foundation is available in 15 shades, from the palest to the darkest, every complexion has a shade!

BUT….if you thought the Dolce & Gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation to be perfect by all means, I have a problem. For the first few uses, the foundation came out too runny. I have shaken the bottle well, but still, this happened. From the second use onwards I have shaken the hell out, but the problem still existed. This problem was solved only after a few uses. This might be due to the oil separation.

My final verdict

In love:

  • Pump dispenser.
  • Skin looks natural yet polished.
  • Fragrance-free.
  • Subtly luminous finish for a youthful glow.
  • Long wearing.
  • Hydrates skin.
  • 15 shades available, so you get the perfect shade.

Not in love:

  • For the first few pumps the foundation comes out as a runny liquid, even after shaking.
  • Price.

Overall I really love this foundation. The price is a bit high but I am totally a fan of the dewy finish it gives to my skin. And I also love how natural it looks. I am giving the Dolce & Gabbana perfect luminous liquid foundation a 4.7/5 and I highly recommend it!

AWESOME BEAUTY HACKS YOU MUST NOT MISS!

thebeautymascot/awesome beauty hacks

When I check any blogs, beauty hacks are my favorites. I love how people come up with some really cool tricks or hacks either to make everything easier or to get amazing results. If you follow me on my social media accounts, you already know I share some beauty hacks there, mainly on my Instagram account. So today I am posting those beauty hacks here.

To be honest, this beauty hacks post wasn’t planned. My whole family is sick with flu and fever and that includes my little girl too. If you are a mom, you probably know the struggles. So this week I couldn’t really finish things for my blog post. But I felt really bad not to post anything. Therefore, I decided to compile the beauty hacks I have been posting in my social medias and do a beauty hacks post.

So these hacks are not about a specific topic like makeup, skincare or haircare. There is a little bit of everything. Hope you like it!

thebeautymascot/some awesome beauty hacks

Mix your favorite primer to a cream foundation to make the foundation more translucent! By doing so you are able to retain coverage of the cream foundations without looking cakey!

The long lasting durability that cream foundations has over liquids and powders remains the same . Moreover, makeup blends seamlessly with the first layer of primer!

You have tips for plump lips too

Ever tried kiwi cleanser?

thebeautymascot/awesome beauty hacks

Kiwi is such a beautiful fruit and tasty as well. But have you tried using it as a cleanser and exfoliator? Just mash up a kiwi and use the pulp to massage onto your face and neck. This acts as a great cleanser and exfoliator. Apart from this kiwi also

  • Keeps skin firm
  • Rejuvenates skin

Check out the Vanilla and lavender lip scrub.

LUSH TANGLED HOT OIL TREATMENT REVIEW

At least once in your life, you might have wished to have a magnificent hair as Rapunzel, long and strong. While a hair as long as hers would have been difficult to carry, a mane that strong wouldn’t hurt, right. Today I am going to talk about “Tangled”, no, not the Disney movie, but the Tangled hot oil treatment from Lush cosmetics.

thebeautymascot/lush tangled hot oil treatment

And this is just a coincidence that I mentioned about Rapunzel when the name of Disney’s version of Rapunzel and the product I am reviewing has the same name. Now, if you have never heard of Rapunzel, which I think is impossible, just know that she is some girl with magnificent long tresses and that’s all is important here. Actually, even that is not important, I just want to write a good intro, that’s it! For those who read, of course, I mean some don’t right? But you are not someone belonging to that category because you are actually reading it:D And I love you but let’s move on!’

Okay! So I was saying is if you need healthy and strong hair, you have to work for it. A healthy diet and a good hair care routine are very important. Your hair needs conditioning and Tangled is supposed to give that to you! Let’s find out what else Lush claims from this solid hair product before beginning to analyze it it’s true.

What I have to say about Lush Tangled hot oil treatment

thebeautymascot/lush tangled hot oil treatment

The Tangled hot oil treatment from Lush cosmetics looks like a lollypop, with a stick at one end and an off-white solid “thing” at the other. This “thing is the real product (treatment). My description might not sound serious but this lollypop form is actually brilliant. Why? because the stick is used to stir and melt the product. There is a black label covering the product, underneath which you get the complete instructions on how to prepare this mask/treatment.

This treatment is actually a mix of different oils in a solid form, so if you are someone who hates oiling your hair, this product is definitely your thing! The Lush tangled hot oil treatment contains some really amazing ingredients like the extra virgin olive oil which increase the tensile strength of the hair and keep your hair moisturized and protected. The next key ingredient is organic jojoba oil which conditions the hair shaft and adds shine and manageability.

thebeautymascot/lush tangled hot oil treatment

It smells really good, a beautiful floral scent with a hint of citrus which mainly is due to the two ingredients ylang ylang, which has a sweet floral fragrance and orange flower absolute which has a citrusy fragrance. The smell is so good and uplifting. But I wish I could say this about the smell once it melts too. Sadly, it smells weird once the product is melted.

To prepare this treatment, place the treatment in a cup or bowl or whatever you like, Lush recommends using their black pots, your choice. Next, add hot water to the solid treatment and begin to stir gently. Start by adding a small amount of water and add more as required. Continue stirring until this is completely melted, without any lumps. The melting process takes a while, say 5-7 minutes. The end product must be thick and creamy. I suggest not to make it too thick as it might be difficult to remove the treatment from your hair. Next step is to apply this cream to your dry hair. Make sure the treatment is not too hot, but it should be warm. Keep this mask on your hair for  20 minutes then wash it off using shampoo.

thebeautymascot/lush tangled hot oil treatment

This treatment was way too much for my shoulder length hair. I applied it so so generously and even then I had so much left which I used on my hubby’s hair. To my surprise, there was still left, which I finally convinced my brother to try. So basically this product was enough for a very generous application on my shoulder length hair, a generous application on my husband’s short hair and not-so-generous application on my brother’s hair. But if this was to be used on my hair before chopping it a few days back ( I had really long hair) then it would have been enough for me and my husband. So I recommend cutting this solid treatment into two or three parts (depending on your hair length) or sharing with someone. Remember once you melt it, you cannot keep it for long, maybe for a week.

thebeautymascot/lush tangled hot oil treatment

thebeautymascot/lush tangled hot oil treatment

thebeautymascot/lush tangled hot oil treatment

Now let’s talk about the results. My hair is normally dry and after using the Lush tangled hot oil treatment my hair was soft, bouncy and so much manageable. It felt so well nourished and I can say is that was a good hair day and it stayed that way for a few days! The results were the same for the two boys as well. I also loved the beautiful intense floral fragrance it left behind, and the fragrance lasted for a couple of days!

Two things I don’t really like about the lush tangled hot oil treatment is one, it contains SLS and the difficulty to remove when overused. Also if you don’t have the patience to stir and melt this product, then just skip it!

My final verdict

[Up to 53% Off] Weekly Surprise with Free Shipping! SK-II, Cosme Decorte, Chanel and more with Great Prices...

Lush Tangled hot oil treatment is a really good product which leaves your hair soft, nourished and manageable. But if you don’t want to stay in the shower for hours and hours trying to remove this treatment out of your hair then remember not to make it too thick and not to apply it  way too generously. But the real problem according to me is SLS, which is making me go from Wow to Hmm and I am giving it 3.9/5. I will still repurchase it for days when my hair needs some extra conditioning.

So, my beautiful friends, have you used the Lush cosmetics Tangled hot oil treatment? Did you like it? Which is your favorite hair treatment/mask

PIMPLE TREATMENT FACE MASK

pimple treatment face mask

Hello, my gorgeous friends! How are you all?

Today we are going to talk about a face mask and I am sure you will love it. Before we even start talking about the face mask, let me share a small story with you guys, please don’t worry, its short.

So what happened is, one day I was preparing chicken curry and for that, I was making a paste out of a few ingredients. Then suddenly I thought about the ingredients I have used, they are so good for your skin, then this thought struck me why not make an amazing face mask out of these ingredients. And  there were two big red pimples on my face. So what did I do, I cleaned my hands and face (very important) and applied this paste on one of the pimples. And later that day, I noticed my pimple actually shrunk and is not painful anymore. Eureka!

After a few days, I tried this mask on my face, and I really loved it. Now let”s jump into the ingredient list . Also, don’t forget to check out the benefits of each ingredient on your skin, which I will be writing at the end of this post.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tomato
  • 1 garlic glove (you can add two if you are okay with the sting)
  • 1/2 tbsp of chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

How to prepare the mask

Nothing much, just take all the above-mentioned ingredients in a blender, blend it to form a paste.

thebeautymascot/pimple treatment face mask

How to apply the pimple treatment face mask

When you have spotted those nasty pimples rather than panicking about them, just make this face mask and apply a thin layer on that particular pimple, leave it on for some 10-20 minutes and then rinse it off. This mask is not only great for spot treatment, you can use it all over face and it gives amazing results. But as with any DIY or any kind of face masks, do a patch test. Slight stinging is alright as we have used garlic.

Benefits of the ingredients on skin

Garlic

Garlic as such can be used for spot treatment as it contains sulphur, which helps to prevent infections and reduce inflammations and also contains Allicin, which has anti-fungal, anti-aging and skin smoothing benefits. But if you are like me who can’t stand the stinging sensation of garlic, then you need to try something like this face mask. We use garlic because garlic

  • Help to get rid of stubborn acne.
  • Helps in removing blackheads.
  • Has anti-aging properties.
  • Helps to minimise pores.

Ginger

We have used ginger because it

  • Helps in treating blemishes and acne.
  • Has anti-aging benefits.
  • Helps in skin toning.
  • Gives radiant skin.

Coriander leaves

Coriander is great because it:

  • Acts as a natural antiseptic and anti-fungal agent.
  • Treatment of blackheads and acne.
  • Absorbs excess oil from your face.
  • Has anti-aging benefits.

Tomato

  • Perfect astringent.
  • Treats open pores.
  • Prevents signs of ageing.
  • Natural bleaching agent.
  • Remove dead skin cells and gives smooth and glowing skin.

One tip

One tip for better results is to pour this face mask into an icetray and freeze it. Once set take the ice cubes place it on the pimple/zits for a few seconds. Later rinse your face. You can also massage your entire using an ice cube, leave it for some 15 minutes and then rinse it off.

So that was one amazing face mask for pimple treatment. Let me know if you try it!
