KIKO MILANO INVISIBLE POWDER REVIEW

Hi guys! How are you guys doing?

If you have read my last post about the products I got from Kiko stores (my haul post here), you know I have mentioned about the invisible powder. So many of you have asked me to review the invisible powder and here I am with my review. I love such translucent powders for the fact that they do not give any extra coverage or in general, does not have any pigment in it. I know most of you prefer it these days! As the sole purpose of such transparent powders is to mattify and set your makeup. So let’s see how well the Kiko Milano invisible powder does its job.

kiko milano, kiko milano invisible powder, loose powder, mattifying powder,

Kiko Milano invisible powder product claims

It creates a sheer veil with a matte finish. The product adheres perfectly to the skin and bestows a delicate and lightweight “second-skin” effect upon the face. It is soft and velvety to the touch. The powder is easy to apply using the soft sponge that’s attached inside the lid.

Ideal for all skin types, especially shiny and/or oily skin. The powder is also perfect for quick touch-ups throughout the day. Non-drying for the skin.

My take on the Kiko Milano Invisible powder
kiko milano invisible powder, invisible powder, translucent powder

The packaging is something I love. It comes in a beautiful white jar with the name written in black. The ingredients and other details are written on the outer black box. Now, the first time I used this product I was running late for an event and I closed the lid and put it inside my bag and left. Later when I checked I found that half of the product was wasted as the lid came out and the powder spilled all over. This happens with most translucent powders. But no, it’s not the packaging, it’s me! The genius me failed to find out that the lid has a twist and lock mechanism, you just have to twist the lid to the lock position. Obviously, I didn’t. So you please take care of that! The lid stays tight and you can carry this powder wherever you go with ease, hence travel-friendly.

kiko milano, kiko milano invisible powder, kiko cosmetics uk,
When it is clearly mentioned!

The lid has an attached sponge, which I agree, is convenient. But I prefer using a powder brush as the sponge that comes along with the powder picks too much powder than what is needed and you need only a small amount unless you are baking.

kiko milano invisible powder, invisible powder, translucent powder, loose powder

It has a fragrance which I could not understand what it was, not very pleasant but still okay. The fragrance disappears after a few minutes so that should not be an issue.

Talking about the texture, the powder is so finely milled and so soft. When applied on my skin, it does not look powdery at all. It mattifies my skin but still manages to give a velvety finish, true to its claims. I absolutely love how beautiful it makes my skin look and feel. It does not leave any white cast when photographed, the skin looks beautiful.

But…yes there is a but…the Kiko Milano invisible powder might leave your skin dry if you have dry skin, most probably if you have extremely dry skin. For oily and combination skin, this one works like a magic but for dry skin, I fear it will dry out your skin especially if you are baking. Since this is winter, my skin sometimes is so dry, but with proper moisturizing, this works fine. But if I use this for baking and especially if I have dry patches this sometimes exaggerates the flakiness. But otherwise, the powder works fine when baking too.

It stays for about 5-6 hours, then small traces of oil starts to peep out. This can be easily fixed by blotting, though. Touch ups are also very easy using this powder.

I love how soft my skin feels after applying this powder. The Kiko Milano invisible powder is paraben-free, non-comedogenic and dermatologically tested. So I am definitely loving this powder.

kiko milano invisible powder, invisible powder, translucent powder, loose powder

Overall

In love with:

  • Packaging is beautiful and travel-friendly.
  • Soft and finely milled powder.
  • Mattifies your skin and keeps your makeup in place. Gives a velvety finish.
  • Stays for about 5-6 hours.
  • Only a very small amount is required, hence will last long.
  • Paraben-free, non-comedogenic and dermatologically tested.
  • Photographs well.

Not in love with:

  • Might not be great for dry skin as this powder might dry out your skin.
  • Might exaggerate dry patches on the skin.

Overall, this powder is great for oily and combination skin as it not just mattify your skin and keeps your makeup in place but also leaves your skin looking soft and velvety (that’s my favorite part!) But for beauties with dry skin, this might not be the right choice. I give it 4.5/5 and I highly recommend this to all the gorgeous ladies with oily/combination skin.

INGLOT MATTE LIPSTICK #440 REVIEW AND SWATCHES

Hey, my gorgeous friends! How are you all doing? I have been really busy the past week as it was my Inaya’s 2nd birthday! I am happy and sad both about it and I am sure all my fellow mommies will understand what I am talking about! Anyways today I am here with a product review. I am reviewing a lipstick today, Inglot Matte lipstick in the shade 440.

thebeautymascot/inglot matte lipstick 440

Product claims

The perfect opaque super matte lipstick for any occasion. Vitamin E, macadamia oil, and avocado oil moisturise and nourish the lips. Long lasting formula provides the ideal matte, smooth, even finish.

Ingredients

thebeautymascot/inglot matte lipstick 440

Price and availability

Price is 75AED  ($10) for 4.5 gm and available at all Inglot outlets.  Available in 40+ shades.

My review of the Ingot matte lipstick 440

If you know me you know I used to be someone who always goes for pink, peach and other nude lipsticks. It’s just recently that I started using more bold and brighter shades! I have used the Inglot matte lipsticks in many other shades before.I have even tried this purple shade but I didn’t buy it because I thought I will never use it! I wouldn’t have used it then but now things have changed and I have started using more bold, bright and deep colours. Hence I finally bought this deeper shade from Inglot Matte lipstick range.

thebeautymascot/inglot matte lipstick 440

The lipstick comes in a black outer box which has all the information written like the ingredient list, expiry and shade number which we will obviously throw away so no use. The actual lipstick has a classy black metal like and sturdy packaging with the brand name written on the lid. The shade number is written on a sticker at the bottom of the bullet. I actually don’t prefer shades to be identified as numbers and I believe you too don’t like it that way either. The only way to identify a particular shade is to open the top and check other than remembering the shade number. The cap shuts tight and hence is travel-friendly.

It contains ingredients like Castor oil, Macadamia oil and Avocado oil which helps to moisturise and nourish your lips.

The texture of this lipstick is matte, real matte! If you are in search for a true matte lipstick, then this one is for you. Since it’s matte, it has a slightly dry texture too. Hence there is a chance for a bit of tugging. Exfoliating and moisturising of the lips is very important otherwise your lips will look dry and patchy. But this lipstick does not settle into fine lines.

The shade 440 which I am talking about today is a deep purple shade, which will bring that bold and quirky side of you outside. This shade will be flattering on most skin tones, especially for the dark skinned beauties. It has a fruity fragrance, not an overpowering fragrance but sweet and pleasant.

Just one swipe and you are left with an opaque colour. Can expect a little bit of dragging when applying but nothing that cannot be fixed. .If you want the shade to be more intense then you can do two or more swipes. Covers even pigmented lips. Does not transfer or bleed.

The staying power is also quite impressive. Stays for 5-6 hours with light meal and drinks. When you have heavy meals it fades from the centre. It fades leaving a beautiful stain behind. I cannot say it fades evenly but you can easily fix this by just swiping your fingers.

After 6 hours it fades leaving a beautiful stain behind. I cannot say it fades evenly but you can easily fix this by just evening out the colour with your fingers.

thebeautymascot/inglot matte lipstick 440

Swatches of Inglot matte lipstick #440

thebeautymascot/inglot matte lipstick #440

thebeautymascot/inglot matte lipstick #440

In love with

  • True matte formula.
  • The sturdy black casing which is travel-friendly.
  • Great colour pay-off.
  • Lasts for 5-6 hours and leaves a stain behind.
  • Contains some amazing ingredients like Castor oil, Macadamia oil and Avocado oil.
  • Does not transfer or bleed.

Not in love with

  • The slightly dry texture, which might leave your lips dry. If you have dry or flaky lips then this will accentuate it.
  • Exfoliating and moisturising are very important for a clean and smooth application.

I have used the Inglot matte lipstick in many other shades before and I really like it! I have to admit that if you don’t exfoliate and moisturise your lips properly this will end up looking patchy and dry. The shade #440 is no different. The stain this particular shade leaves behind is also something I love and is beautiful. I rate it 3.9/5. Despite the dry texture, I would still say this matte lipstick from Inglot is something you should at least try. The quality of this lipstick is brilliant.

Have you tried the Inglot matte lipstick? Which is your favourite shade? Which is your favourite matte lipstick?

ALOE VERA SHEA BUTTER WHIPPED DIY BODY BUTTER

Hey my beautiful friends, how are you doing today?

How is winter so far? Cold, colder, coldest? However it is, your skin might be the most suffering one. When people with oily skin can’t explain how dry their skins are God save the dry skinned ones. It is not funny, I know! But one thing you can do to your skin to save it from the trauma (big word? Maybe I will use the word pain?) is to moisturise. By moisturising, I mean really deeply moisturise. If you thought you need expensive and chemical-loaded creams for this purpose, then my friend, you have plenty of other options. Today I am going to talk about one such option which is super moisturising, great for you skin and you need only very few ingredients to make it which also means it is cheap and it is so much fun to make it too!

thebeautymascot/whipped diy body butter

Aloe vera shea butter whipped DIY body butter

thebeautymascot/whipped diy body butter

Today I have decided to talk less so let’s just jump to the ingredients used.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Shea butter (you can buy here )
  • 1/2 cup C0coa butter (you can buy here )
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil(you can buy here )
  • 1/2 cup avocado oil/almond/olive oil (I used Avocado oil, buy avocado oil )
  • 5tbsp Aloe vera gel (you can buy here )
  • 15-30 drops of Essential oils (I use lemon, lime and sweet orange)
  • 2tsp Vitamin E oil (optional) (you can buy here )

How to make the DIY body butter

  • The first step is to melt the kinds of butter and oils. For this take a double boiler and add shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, avocado oil and Vitamin E oil in it.
  • Bring to a medium flame and stir constantly. When all the ingredients are melted remove it from the flame and let it cool a little bit then add the essential oils of your choice.
  • Next place this in the refrigerator and let the mixture cool, this step is very important, otherwise your body butter cannot be whipped properly. Keep it in the refrigerator for 1 hour. The right state is when the centre part is still soft but the side is hardened. That is when you know your body butter is ready to be whipped.
  • Next, add aloe vera juice and using a hand mixer, whip the mixture until is becomes soft and fluffy. Keep it in the refrigerator for another 10 minutes and viola! a very luxurious body butter is ready!
  • Store in a glass container.

When the ingredients are melted

When it is ready to be whipped

thebeautymascot/whipped diy body butter

Shelf life of the DIY body butter

thebeautymascot/whipped diy body butter

This body butter stays for up to 8 weeks without refrigerating. You can also store it in the refrigerator if you like.

How to use DIY body butter

Apply a very small amount on your body. The body butter gets absorbed really fast into your skin leaving it soft and moisturised.

Some points to remember

  • You can skip the Aloe vera juice if you wish and just make a normal Shea butter DIY body butter. If you are using natural aloe vera plant then scoop out the flesh and run it in the blender and then add to your mixture.
  • If you don’t have a double boiler, place a glass bowl on top of a steel vessel filled with water and place it on the stove. Add the ingredients to the glass bowl.
  • Shea butter needs a little more time to melt than the other ingredients.
  • I have added lemon, lime and sweet orange essential oils if you are using these then remember that these oils are photosensitive hence it is not a good idea to use it during day time when out in the sun.
  • Since this DIY body butter contains a lot of oils and different kind of butter, you only need to apply a very small amount. Hence a little goes a long way.
  • Make sure the utensils used for whipping are dry.

thebeautymascot/whipped diy body butter

thebeautymascot/whipped diy body butter

thebeautymascot/whipped diy body butter

I have used Aloe vera because it

  • Moisturizes skin
  • Reduces stretch marks
  • Reduces acne
  • Lighten blemishes and marks
  • Heals external wounds, helps with sunburns and soothes the skin.
  • Reduces tan.

The Aloe vera Shea butter whipped DIY body butter is a superiorly moisturising body butter which can be made very easily and is cheap. This is perfect for the winter season when your skin is extremely dry. You can also use this as a moisturising hair mask. Have you made body butter before? If you make this then do let me know.

LUSH POWDERED SUNSHINE (SUNSCREEN IN POWDER FORM)

What is one think you hate about sunscreens? I would say the sticky, greasy feeling it gives and sometimes white cast. I am quite sure these might be your reasons for not wearing sunscreen or at least hating the poor thing. But hey, you know right, sunscreen is an inevitable part of your beauty regime. Not only when you are outdoors, sunscreen is necessary even when you are indoors. Today I am going to express my thoughts about a sunscreen, a powdered sunscreen.

Why I was particularly intrigued about the powdered sunshine is because it came in powder form. I never knew there was a sunscreen in powder form. And then when I visited a Lush store in Dubai, I discovered it. Plus the kind people from Lush were kind enough to offer this one for free. The staff at Lush in Mercato mall invited me for a shop tour and this was one of the items I received. Please keep reading to know what I think about the powdered sunshine from Lush cosmetics.

My take on the Lush powdered sunshine

thebeautymascot/lush powdered sunshine sunscreen

The packaging of the powdered sunshine is quite simple, a transparent plastic bottle with a black label where the product name and other details like ingredient list, method of using and product claims are mentioned. It has a flip-open cap. Not a fancy packaging, but you know right, Lush has no fancy looking packaging anyways. But the bottle is easy to carry and travel-friendly.

The powder is very very light pink in colour. It has a fragrance that is a mix of citrus and earthy aroma. I think the smell of patchouli is standing out as well. Patchouli has an earthy,  herbal scent. A very soothing and refreshing fragrance. It leaves a very mild scent on your skin which lingers for some time and disappears after a while.

thebeautymascot/lush powdered sunshine sunscreen

When you take the powder in your hand, you can feel the powder to be a bit coarse and grainy. When you apply the powdered sunshine on your skin make sure you dab and not rub. You can use a powder brush and just dust some powder on your face. Once applied on the skin you can hardly feel its on. What I wasn’t sure before trying this powdered sunscreen was that if it will look powdery or not and I must say even when I apply quite a thick layer of the sunscreen, it didn’t look powdery at all. Undetectable even on my tanned skin. It doesn’t feel greasy and really mattifies my skin and no white cast.

What I really have a problem with the powdered sunshine is regarding the SPF. SPF 15 is too low especially when I am outside in the sun. But I like to use it when I don’t have to stay under direct sunlight, mainly indoors. As I said you need SPF even when you are at home, so this will do. When in sun, I need an SPF of 50+. I also like using it on top of my makeup just like translucent powder and I must say it does a great job as a translucent powder as it sets my makeup and mattifies. It also gives a subtle shimmer somewhat like the HD powders and I love it. Plus I have the advantage of an SPF.

Lush suggests to re-apply the powdered sunscreen every 2 hours, just as any other sunscreens but I think it stays longer than that. One bottle contains 70g of the product. You don’t have to repurchase for a very long time because you need only a very small amount of the product.

One other advantage of this sunscreen is that you don’t have to wait for it to get absorbed into your skin. Just apply and go. I also like to use this a dry shampoo and I love the beautiful fragrance it leaves on my hair.

Not just that, why I like the powdered sunshine is because it actually soothed my skin irritation. I had a few bumps on my jawline due to an allergic reaction and this product really helped me in soothing it. But please don’t test any new product when you have an allergic reaction.

I think the main reason it helped is because it contains calamine, which we know is a soothing and antiseptic powder and is high in zinc oxide so works perfect as a sunscreen, along with olibanum oil which has toning and antiseptic effects. Also, I think patchouli might have helped as it has an anti-bacterial and cooling effect.

Unlike most Lush products, powdered sunshine has a bunch of scary looking ingredients. The two main ingredients apart from calamine, lime and lemon oils and corn flour are octyl methoxycinnamate and octocrylene. Don’t get scared by the name. Octocrylene is a compound which absorbs UVB and short-wave UVA, also acts as an emollient. Octyl methoxycinnamate which also absorbs UVB from the sun protecting the skin from damage and also helps to reduce the appearance of scars. (I googled :P)

For all those who hate to read a long post, Let’s just summarise

In love with:

  • Non-greasy, no white cast.
  • Easy to carry and travel-friendly.
  • Doesn’t look powdery even on tanned skin.
  • Stay long.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • Lovely fragrance.
  • Works great as a loose powder.
  • Mattifies the skin and gives a subtle shimmer.
  • Contains some great ingredients which helps is soothing the skin too.
  • Lush powdered sunshine can also be used as a dry shampoo. So it is basically a multi-purpose product.

Not in love with:

  • SPF is really low, just 15.
  • Powder is a bit grainy.

Overall, if you ask me if I would use it as a sunscreen when I am staying in the sun for a long time, I will not as the SPF is low. But when I stay indoors or when I don’t have to stay under direct sunlight I will use it. It helped to soothe and relax my skin so I would love to keep it. I can use it on top of my makeup as a loose powder and it mattifies and gives a beautiful glow to the skin.Which means this is not a product that must not be purchased, this is a great product but as a sunscreen it is just average. So I leave the choice to you!

If you have used the Lush cosmetics powdered sunshine please let me know what you felt. Also please feel free to comment and let me know how you felt about today’s post.

EYE MAKEUP TIPS FOR OILY EYELIDS

Today is a special day for her because she was going on a date with the man of her dreams, the man whom she had a crush on like forever. And today she decided to do the makeup inspired by her favourite YouTuber. And how pretty she looked, the eye makeup was so good it made her beautiful green eyes even more beautiful. She wore the most beautiful dress. And everything was just perfect until she decided to check herself in the mirror for one last time. When she looked into the mirror she thought her best dream had converted to her worst nightmare. Her eyeshadow had creased, her eyeliner was all over. Oh! No! She had racoon eyes.

If this has ever happened to you or at least something similar then this post is for you, my friend!

Everybody has oil glands, the reason for oily eyelids is the glands which are located at the eyelash line. Like I said, everyone has it but some might have oil secretion even more, just like the case of our face. That doesn’t mean a person with an oily face will necessarily have an oily eyelid or vice versa. But I am sure if you have oily eyelids you know the struggle. You know how fast your eyeshadow creases and sometimes your eyeshadow looks patchy or lose intensity and you know how it feels when your eyeliner transfers to your top lids or fades.

We all have been there, me too! Until I learned some amazing eye makeup tips. Three simple steps to a flawless eye makeup for oily eyelids. Here I am not talking about makeup I am talking about the prepping you must do for your eye makeup to last long…and longer!

thebeautymascot/flawless makeup for oily eyelids

The three simple steps

Trust me it’s easy! I am not asking you to include more time-consuming steps to your makeup routine. These are easier than you thought and very important steps, if you have oily eyelids or not and it takes just 10 more seconds or so but saves the agony of your makeup becoming a mess just after a few hours of application. The process isn’t a big deal but the results are.

Step1: The cleansing

As much as it is important to apply makeup on a clean face, it is equally important to apply eye makeup on a clean eyelid. You don’t want any leftover mascara or eyeliner on your eyelids. All you have to do is use a makeup remover and wipe off any residual makeup or oil. For the lazy bones, you can use wet wipes instead.

I like using micellar water.

My suggestions:
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Water
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
Clinique Take the Day off makeup remover

Step2: Blotting

Yes, blotting! Even after you have wiped off the eyelids there might still be oil residue on your eyelids. You have to get rid of it as much as you can. If there is oil on your eyelids then once you apply eye makeup it breaks down the makeup, which we don’t want obviously. Moreover, if there is oil on your eyelids, your eye makeup will end up looking patchy. So for a flawless eye makeup, this step is very important.

My suggestions:
Boscia Green Tea Blotting linens
ELF Shine Eraser Oil Blotting sheets

Step 3: Eyeshadow primer

I am quite sure you are already using eyeshadow primers. Eyeshadow primers seal the oils of your skin away from your eye makeup and help your eye makeup last longer. It also helps in better pigmentation of your eye shadows and also a smoother application. You can also use concealer for this, but always remember to dust some loose powder on top of any cream/liquid concealers before applying eye shadows. And, please remember less is more when in this case too. You only need a very small amount of the primer.

My suggestions:

Urban decay eyeshadow primer potion

Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Primer

Nyx HD eyeshadow primer

Then do your magic. Play with eye shadows and create the look you want and may your eye makeup stay all day!

Few other eye makeup tips

  • If you have oily eyelids, start by applying thin layers of eye shadow and then build up the intensity. Don’t start with a thick layer.
  • When choosing eye makeup choose the ones that are long-lasting.
  • If you have extremely oily eyelids it is better to avoid cream eyeshadows at least avoid using these very close to the lashline. But there are some awesome cream shadows like the Maybelline colour tattoo, which stays all day.
  • If you are using cream eye shadows, it will be best if you can layer it with powder ones or at least try to dust a very very small amount of translucent powder on top. Similar is the case with eyeliner, if possible layer your eyeliner with an eyeshadow so that your eyeliner stays put for a longer time.
  • When choosing eye creams, take care of the formula, go for gels or oil-free ones that don’t leave your eyelids greasy. If your favourite eye cream makes your eyes look greasy, then save it for night time.

These are some of the eye makeup tips for oily eyelids for flawless eye makeup. Don’t forget to share your tips and tricks in the comment section below.

My review of the soap and glory wish upon a jar

thebeautymascot/soapandglorywishuponajar

This product was initially a collagen day cream and later they changed the formula and now it is a night cream. The packaging of Wish upon a jar is dope! I mean, seriously just look at it! It comes in a silver spherical tub, which looks like a ball, a sparkling one! The most difficult thing about this kind of packaging is that you cannot click a beautiful photo of the product without your image in it 😛

But I seriously love the packaging. This can be the perfect Christmas gift too. The night cream has a very luxurious texture, thick and rich. The texture of this cream makes it a great night cream especially during winters when my skin feels dry. Normally my skin feels super dry and stretchy during winter and if you live in UAE you know what I am talking about. But I must admit this year is a bit different, at least for now. This cream leaves my skin so smooth and soft. I also wake up with soft and supple skin.

thebeautymascot/soap and glory wish upon a jar

Moisturisation this cream gives is brilliant. I am sure this night cream will moisturise even the driest skin but not in a greasy manner. My skin is combination, more towards the oily side, and since it works for my skin, I think it will work for oily skin too. I have used this cream during summer season also, so I know. But the texture of this cream always made me feel it is great for winter. But summer or winter, my skin didn’t feel greasy and I absolutely had no breakouts. And at this point let me tell you, this cream claims to be for all skin types.

One thing which is not so pleasant about this cream is that it gives a feeling that something is on your face, not a really heavy feeling but still you know something is there. The smell of this cream I thought wasn’t good. But I know people who love the smell and say it’s chocolate orange. But I dislike the scent, gives me the feeling of a cheap face cream.

Where I have a problem with it is, actually I don’t a problem, but I am not sure if the claims of vanishing wrinkles and lifting your skin are true. But maybe it is because my skin doesn’t really have those issues. Maybe people with aged skin than mine might really have benefits with it. It claims to contain such amazing anti-aging components which are difficult to spell (please check the ingredient list and the product claim section).

Even though this is an anti-aging cream and I really am not sure if it delivers what it claims in that aspect, I love the results. It makes my skin soft, supple, radiant and brightened. What else can ask for in a night cream So I am really happy. I think the quantity you get it less. But nonetheless, I love Wish upon a jar from Soap and Glory.

thebeautymascot/soap and glory wish upon a jar

Overall

In love with

  • The silver sphere in which it comes.
  • The texture is so thick and rich.
  • Contains some really amazing anti-aging ingredients.
  • Really moisturises my skin and it lasts the whole night.
  • Leaves my skin softer, smoother, radiant and brighter.
  • Not greasy and does not break out my skin.

Not in love with

  • Quantity is less.
  • The scent.

Wish upon a jar is a great night cream as it moisturises my skin even during winters when my skin is dry, dull and stretchy and it leaves my skin softer, smoother, brighter and more radiant. I am not sure about erasing wrinkles or firming of the skin but I am really happy with what it gives.  I am rating it 4/5. Even though I believe wish upon a jar by soap and glory will be best for matured skin, I think others with younger skin also can give it a try as the results are amazing.

Have you guys tried Wish upon a jar? Which night cream are you currently using? Please leave a comment below as I would love to hear from you.

What I think about the Maybelline instant age rewind concealer

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind concealer

The Maybelline instant age rewind concealer comes in a transparent plastic tube packaging. Being transparent is definitely an advantage as you can see how much product is left to be used.

There is a sponge applicator at one end of the tube. Now the size of this applicator actually surprises me. It is a little larger than what you would expect for a concealer. The applicator is really soft but it will be difficult to use the applicator on smaller areas like the area around your nose clearly because the applicator size is quite big. That is if you choose to apply the concealer directly using the applicator. You can use a brush. Maybelline claims that the sponge applicator is protected with an anti-microbial system, so it is hygienic, I don’t buy it. Just after a few uses the sponge look and feel messy, I don’t know if that’s just for me though. You can remove the sponge part if you like as a lot of product gets soaked in the sponge.

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind concealer

To use the concealer, just twist the collar of the applicator, which is maroon in colour and is clearly marked with arrows. The product comes out on the sponge applicator. This part can be tricky too as you might end up twisting more than what is necessary and a lot of product might come out. this happened to me, thus causing product wastage.

What I really love about the concealer is its thin formula, so light-weight.It has medium to high coverage and covers my dark circles really well. I use a corrector underneath if my dark circles are really bad. Maybelline has a neutralizer shade from the same range, which is to be used under the concealer shade if you have extreme dark circles. I haven’t used the neutralizer so I cannot comment. It also covers blemishes and spots really well.

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind concealer

When you look at the concealer inside the tube it looks dark and on the applicator, it looks even darker than the real shade of the concealer. So keep that in mind when getting your shade. But I am sure you are wise enough to swatch and try before getting a concealer as it might be really tricky getting the right shade.

The concealer blends easily but remember to blend fast as it might dry quickly. The most important thing to note when using this concealer is that a little goes a long way. A very very small amount of product is actually required. When I first used it I had used more than what is required and ended up looking like a white plastic doll, no racism intended.

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind conceler

thebeautymascot/maybelline instant age rewind concealer

See in the above picture, on the right side of my hand, when compared to the left side I have used too much product so that side has a white cast.

Maybelline also has a brightener from the range for highlighting purpose. But the other concealer shades are also quite highlighting type. It brightens my under eye area. Not just that, I like using this concealer for highlighting rather than just concealing. It highlights but not at all shimmery, just the glow.

I haven’t experienced any creasing with the Maybelline instant age rewind concealer, nor has it settled into any fine lines and yes, I set it with a translucent powder. The staying power is also quite impressive, stays for 8+ hours. I don’t think the claim of this one being a treatment for dark circles and fine lines is true. It contains Haloxyl which helps to reduce dark circles. The concealer does not make my under eye area dry but it is not really moisturising as well. If the under eye area is on the drier side then you might need a really good moisturiser, as I believe, this one will look cakey otherwise.

Final verdict

In love with:

  • Medium to full coverage.
  • Lightweight texture.
  • Travel friendly.
  • Blends easily.
  • Does not settle into fine lines and no creasing.
  • Goes on smoothly.
  • Brightens under eye area.
  • Covers dark circles, blemishes and spots.

Not in love with:

  • Shade selection, you might not find the right shade.
  • If over applied will look cakey.
  • The applicator is large, soak up a lot of product, might not be hygenic.

Overall, I think the Maybelline instant age rewind concealer is a good one if you manage to find your perfect shade. The main issues I have is with the sponge applicator otherwise I really like the concealer. I rate it 3.5/5.

Have you used this concealer from Maybelline? Your thoughts?

DIY AROMATHERAPY BODY WASH

thebeautymascot/DIY Aromatherapy body wash

My life has been so chaotic lately, I was not feeling well, both mentally and physically. I am a Gemini, I think a lot! So by just trying not to think, which obviously is difficult for me, I have managed to stay positive and happy. Which means I am back on track. But my body still needs some extra something. And if I tell you about today, you probably don’t want me to explain everything so basically, I was feeling so tired. So before I unwind this da, I thought maybe I should get a great relaxing bath. It always helps!

But when I went through the ingredient list of my favourite Aromatherapy body wash….Oh Gosh! The list of chemicals used is even longer than the other good ingredients. Today I wasn’t ready for some extra sh*t hence I ditched it, for the time being, of course. I cannot fully do it, I am an addict you know 😛 but at least once in a while, I like to go all natural, and give my skin and body something like a detox and today I decided to make a DIY aromatherapy body wash with all great ingredients minus the chemicals. And I am really happy with the end product.

And this one costs far less than any body washes you get in the market and it is really easy to make. So easy! You just need to have some few things.

If you are interested then please continue reading.

Ingredients used

thebeautymascot/DIY Aromatherapy body wash

  •  1 bar castile soap (Get it here )
  • 4 cups distilled water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable glycerin (Get it here ) This is optional.
  • 2  tbsp almond oil (Get it here )
  • 20 drops eucalyptus oil (Get it here )
  • 20 drops sweet orange essential oil (Get it here )
  • 25 drops jojoba oil (Get it here )
  • 2tbsp Aloe vera gel (Get it here ) This is optional.
  • 20 drops peppermint oil (Get it here )

Black Friday: FREE 17-piece ultimate L’OCCITANE collection with any $160 purchase! Use code: BFBOX. Valid 11/24 – 11/27

This is how you make the Aromatherapy DIY body wash

  • In a stainless steel saucepan, take distilled water and bring it to a low boil.
  • Next, grate the castile soap and stir in the grated soap into the boiling water. Over low flame, stir until the soap is melted.
  • After removing from heat add glycerine, almond oil, jojoba oil and other essential oils and finally aloe vera gel. You can either add vegetable glycerin or aloe vera gel. You can also skip both if you don’t have it at home. The two ingredients are added to make our body wash thick.
  • Let the mixture sit undisturbed until is cooled.
  • And that’s how you make your very own Aromatherapy DIY body wash! Use it as you would normally use any body washes/shower gels. Just remember to shake well before using.

Few things to remember

  • You can use liquid castile soap instead of the castile soap bar. It is even easier when you use liquid castile soap. Just add all the other ingredients except distilled water and shake well.I didn’t have liquid castile soap today, I had the soap bar. Moreover, castile soap bars are cheaper than liquid ones.
  • If you don’t have all the essential oils, you can customise and add the ones you have.
  • You can check out the recipe for a very basic DIY body wash recipe here. This recipe needs only a very few ingredients.
  • I normally stock up my essential oils. I buy when I spot them in some stores or get it online. To make things easier for you, I have added links to make it easier for you guys. Hence this post contains affiliate links which means, if you make a purchase by clicking on the links, I get a very small referral fee at no cost to you.
  • Make sure the water you use is distilled as normal tap water will contain bacteria which will reduce the shelf life of the DIY body wash.
  • This body wash has a shelf life up to one year.
  • But the ingredients might separate so make sure you shake well before each use.
