Don’t we all love our daily dose of coffee? Coffee is just enough to kick start an otherwise lazy day. And the aroma of coffee, oh my God!! But did you know the best friend of yours ( I meant coffee here) has great benefits on skin too. Yes, seriously. Yaay!

Oh so coffee-ish

The first thing which attracts me to coffee is its smell. So I don’t mind smelling like a coffee bean all day. In fact I would love to -Oh so refreshing! That’s the reason why I could not resist myself from trying out this great smelling body scrub. All the other benefits come as bonuses (That’s my case).

Why use coffee

Coffee has the power to dehydrate fatty cells which results in reducing the appearance of cellulite.Coffee is rich in anti-oxidants, hence it has great anti-inflammatory properties. Caffeine in coffee draws out excess moisture from the skin. Therefore you are left with smoother and firmer skin. Coffee fights free radicals which are causing pre-mature aging of your skin. So coffee reduces the appearance of fine line, wrinkles and sun spots. Coffee tightens the skin and repairs damage caused by ultraviolet rays. Coffee also helps to reduce under eye dark circles. Coffee is a good exfoliant too. Coffee is also easily absorbed into the skin.

So now you know why caffeine is used in so many skin creams? Now hoping that you are impressed by all these as I am, lets move on to the ingredient list.

1 cup ground coffee

1 cup coconut milk

1 1/2 cup sugar

1/2 tbsp cinnamon (cinnamon is optional. If you choose to use it, use only small amount)

Normally in coffee scrubs one use coconut oil but I am using coconut milk instead. The reason being , coconut milk makes a more luxurious scrub than the coconut oil one.

How to make our scrub

Combine coffee, coconut milk and cinnamon. Mix it well. Then add sugar and mix it. And there you have it!

I used brown sugar but you can use the white refined one also. No problem. But sticking to organic is always the best option.

If you don’t know how to make coconut milk it is easy. Add water(preferably warm) to coconut and blend it it a blender. Now strain the juice and done. But don’t worry you can use the powdered packet also. Still preparing from fresh coconut gets my vote.

The technique of applying

Applying is similar to exfoliating your body with any other body scrub with the only difference of concentrating more on the areas with cellulite. What I mean to say is massage this body scrub in a circular motion gently onto your skin, taking more time on our worst enemy- the cellulite.

The best part of using coffee scrub is that you can use the scrub for your face too. With all the above mentioned qualities of coffee you do not want to hunt for another scrub for your face. Plus, coconut milk also has moisturizing and anti-aging properties. Not yet convinced ? then our 3rd ingredient, cinnamon helps in curing blemishes, acne, pimples and fine lines. Now that’s awesome.

For face

You can add honey (optional) to the scrub and use it on face. The scrub can be used as a face mask too Apply this onto your face, keeping it for 20 minutes. Then rinse it off by gently massaging in upward circular strokes.

You can store it in a container or prepare fresh whenever you need. For reducing cellulite use it everyday until you start seeing results. When using everyday, you don’t have to scrub the entire body just massage on the cellulite.

Try the coffee- coconut milk scrub to get soft smooth and cellulite free body. You also have the advantage of having the divine smell of coffee on your body all day. Try it you will love the experience.
