PERT SHAMPOOS REVIEW

Hello my beautiful friends,How are you guys doing?

When it comes to hair, I always had dry and damaged hair. It is just recently that my hair started getting better and that’s because I have started taking real care of it. I take care when using products on my hair too. Today I am up with a review and I am reviewing a new range of shampoos inspired by natural Arab remedies and I am talking about Pert shampoos. I have got the chance to review three out of the 8 available. So let’s get started with the review.

Today I am going to review

  • Anti-dandruff with coconut and lime
  • Anti- hair fall with ginger extracts
  • For damaged hair with chamomile extracts

Product claims

Smooth hair opens the door to a better tomorrow. When it comes to choosing a shampoo, women want quick and smart products that would give them that fresh ‘salon look’ without having to spend a fortune. Now, thanks to PERT’s new range of shampoos, smooth and manageable hair is accessible to all. Present in the GCC market for over 30 years, PERT has finally perfected a range of products that bottles the region’s traditional wisdom and natural remedies. With PERT, smooth hair is a guaranteed end benefit without the fuss of traditional Arab remedies – their professional formula ensures your hair remains healthy thanks to their all natural ingredients and remedies that women have been using for centuries. The products are simple to use in just one easy step, making it the smart choice that gives you all the value for your money.

The 8 shampoos available are:

  1. Coconut & Lime:Anti-Dandruff – Coconut has properties that are anti bacterial and which offer nourishment for the scalp while adding shine. The formula conditions deep down, helping fight visible dandruff flakes from your hair.
  2. Henna:For Strong Hair – Henna leaves promote hair growth and thus strong hair. Additionally, henna adds shine and volume to your hair while preventing it from greying and thinning,
  3. Mandarin:For Greasy Hair – Mandarin has proteins which help the hair from getting oily. The natural ingredients protect the hair, giving you a healthy and smooth look for longer.
  4. Olive Oil:For Dry Hair – Olive oil helps in moisture which make hair shiny and healthy. Rich in vitamins A, E and antioxidants, olive oil replaces the extra silicone ingredients used in conditioners and helps make hair more manageable.
  5. Oil Extracts:To Nourish Hair – The oil extracts provide overall nourishment to hair by preventing dry, itchy and flaky scalps while adding sheen and lustre to hair. The oils also maintain the hair’s natural texture while adding smoothness and strength to reduce breakage.
  6. Chamomile:For Damaged Hair – Not only does chamomile help sooth scalp irritation and nourish the hair, it also adds shine and glow to dull and dry hair. Mainly with dyed hair, chamomile is gentle and soothes damaged hair.
  7. Ginger:Anti Hair Fall – Ginger provides vitamins to the hair, helping in hair growth and hair strengthening for less hair fall. Additionally, the ginger enhances the hair’s natural lustrous shine.
  8. Honey:For Normal Hair – Honey provides healthy benefits by coating damaged hair with a protective layer, attracting moisture and feeding the hair follicles.

My review of the Pert shampoos

thebeautymascot/pert shampoo review

Even though I have tried the three variants I have seen similar results (well almost). Hence I am reviewing the three together but will be mentioning the differences too.

Let’s start with the packaging. The Pert shampoos comes in a green bottle with a flip open cap. The packaging is just almost similar to any other drugstore shampoos nothing special. The cap shuts tight hence travel-friendly. The shampoos has a very pleasant but light fragrance which just lingers for a few hours after washing your hair and then disappears. The Anti-dandruff smells a little different and has a coconutty fragrance which disappears even faster. Anti-dandruff shampoo is ivory colour while the other two are off white.

The consistency is quite thick, not very thick but still. The Anti-dandruff shampoo is a bit thicker than the other two. A very small amount is only required to create a great lather and yes lathers really well. Now considering the cleaning part, all the three cleans hair really well for any dirt and grime. But if you ask me about the anti-hairfall claim I don’t really think it does that but all I have to agree it did not weigh down my hair, any of them. Next the anti-dandruff shampoo is successful is getting rid of the flakes but if you stop using the shampoo, it comes back. The shampoo contains Zinc Pyrithone, which fights dandruff and dry scalp. The one for damaged hair is much easier on hair and does not leave the hair dry at all. The others also does not dry out my hair which is a great win for me as I have dry hair and most shampoos dry my hair. Even the anti-dandruff shampoo does not dry my hair and leaves my hair soft and beautiful. The Pert shampoo for damaged hair works even better if you have dry hair like me.

Normally I dilute and use my shampoos, these I have used with and without diluting and however these does not dry my hair. And I have tried with and without conditioner and even without conditioner my hair felt soft and less frizzy. But I strongly recommend using conditioners because it is very important to condition your hair . I asked my mom, my dad, my husband and my brother to use these shampoos and they felt the same about the shampoos. I have dry wavy hair, my mom has oily curls, my dad has soft straight hair, my husband has soft waves and my brother has dry curls. Am I making you confused? I hope not! However, the results were the same despite having different type of hairs.

What I don’t like about these shampoos is the ingredients, a whole lot of chemicals including sodium lauryl sulfate and parabens. But I must say there are some really god ingredients too.

Final verdict

In love with:

  • Travel-friendly packaging but I don’t like carrying bigger bottles.
  • Pleasant fragrance
  • Cleans the hair and scalp leaving your hair soft and beautiful.
  • Does not dry your hair.
  • Very affordable price.

Not in love with:

  • Contains SLS and parabens.

Honestly speaking I don’t expect shampoos to do miracles to my hair. According to me if a shampoo cleans my scalp and hair and removes the excess oil while not drying it, then I am happy with it. These does exactly that. But I still have a problem with the ingredients used. If you are planning to get an affordable shampoo, these might be a great choice. However, I will not repurchase these. I rate it 3.5/5.

Have you tried the Pert shampoos? Which is your favourite shampoo? Or which one are you using currently?

PR samples. However, all opinions are my own and unbiased.

NYX CREAM HIGHLIGHT AND CONTOUR PALETTE REVIEW

thebeautymascot/nyx cream highlight and contour palette review

Makeup trends come and go, but one trend which is always cool is the contouring trend and for a good reason. The best thing about contouring is that you can sculpt your face as you desire. If you think only expensive products can give you that Kardashian kind of contouring and sculpting then my friend you are wrong. There are some really awesome drugstore products that can give the same results. Talking about drugstore products, how can we not mention Nyx, Nyx is one of my favorite drugstore brands and most probably yours too! Nyx has recently come up with some really cool contouring products like the contour and highlight pro palette and wonder stick. Today I am going to talk about the latest addition to their contour line, the Nyx cream highlight and contour palette.

Product claims

Availability and price

Price is AED 78 ( I got it for 58 on sale at landmarks shop )It is also available at ulta and Amazon

What I think of the Nyx cream highlight and contour palette

The Nyx cream highlight and contour palette comes in a black rectangular packaging, which definitely looks good. One side of the box is transparent which allows you to have a clear idea of the shades. The palette is available in three different shades, Light, Medium and Dark and you can choose the one that is best suited for your complexion. You already know right that you have to use one or shades darker than your skin tone for contouring and one or two shades lighter for highlighting. I am not sure if you can find your perfect shade out of the three available shades, but hopefully, you can. As far as I am concerned, Medium works for me so I chose Medium.

Each palette consists of three shades, a contour shade, a highlight which is matte and a shimmery highlight. The shades are brilliant. The texture is what you might have a problem with. The texture is soft but not really creamy or silky as they claim it to be, especially that of the matte highlight, which makes the product not so easy to blend, you can still blend though. But that is not really an issue, as we have already seen makeup queens using oils for even their Anastasia Beverly hills contour palette, so you can do the same here. I use argan oil, which already is a part of my skincare routine, you can choose any facial oils you are using. 3-4 drops will do. After adding oil, the problem of blending is solved as this thing then blends like a dream. The texture becomes so smooth and silky after adding oil.

Swatches without oil

thebeautymascot/nyx cream highlight and contour palette

Now speaking about the pigmentation, I feel that it is not highly pigmented but still great. You can always build it up if required. I don’t actually call it a con especially if you are new to contouring. If you are new to contouring, then there are chances of using more product and messing everything up. So this might be a boon for you as products like this work better for you. I also like the sheer contouring it does, looks natural and as I said you can build it up if you want it to be more dramatic.

thebeautymascot/nyx cream highlight and contour review

Coming more specific to my shade, Medium, I love all the three shades. The contour shade is a warm brown shade and gives a beautiful contour and perfectly blends in with my skin. It blends quite ok if you don’t add oil but it is better to because adding oil makes it easier to blend. The highlight shade is also great, conceals my dark circles and highlights the areas I want to be highlighted. But you really need to add oil to work with it otherwise, it might end up being chalky and  is difficult to blend. The third shade which is the shimmer  gives a beautiful glow to your cheekbones, cupid’s bow, bridge of your nose, inner corner of the eye and wherever you prefer. It gives a silverish glow which is ok but I’m not really very happy about it. The shimmery particles are so minute which is nice. You don’t really have to add oil to the shimmer, but the results are awesome if you do.

I normally set it with powders and advice you to do the same for best results. The contour stays intact for 8+hours which is great.

Overall verdict

The Nyx cream highlight and contour palette is a really good contour palette. The price is really affordable. The pigmentation is not very high but perfect for a natural looking contour. It is not really blendable when used as it is, but when mixed with oil blends like a dream. Overall I think this palette is great if you are looking for a decently priced contour palette and is perfect for beginners as it is really easy to useI give it a rating of 4.2/5 and I am sure you won’t be disappointed in the Nyx cream highlight and contour palette.

MASSIVE DRUGSTORE MAKEUP HAUL

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hi guys, How are you all?

If you are wondering where have I vanished, I had to go to India for my dear sister-in-laws wedding and if you have at least heard of big fat Indian weddings, you know what kept me busy for the two weeks! I also was the official make up artist for the bride, so had to do do some shopping prior to my travel. Now that I am back I thought of starting with a fun post, a drugstore makeup haul. Now who does not like make up haul posts, right! I am doing a drugstore one, because I got some amazing products, I can’t wait to share. So let’s begin!

The products I purchased are from Gosh, Nyx and Rimmel London,Karaja and Deborah Milano. I got these from Lifestyle stores.

Gosh Cosmetics

I have not tried any products from Gosh, so thought of trying out a few and ended up buying some awesome products.

thebeautymascot/makeuphaul

Smokey nudes palette

I have not tried this eye shadow palette yet, but love it even before using. Love the shades, great for both day and night make up. The palette contains 10 different shades and also a double-sided brush. The best part is that Gosh sells this eye shadow palette for just AED 90, I will be using this quite often, I am sure and my detailed review will be up soon.

Giant Blush

I love that this blush comes in form of a stick. Super easy to use and the shade I have is 04 Passion, which is a beautiful pink shade.

Mineral powder

I can’t really comment about this powder at this stage, since I have hardly used it. But so far so good!

Click’n Conceal

I really love this concealer. Perfect for the under eye, instantly brightens the under eye. I have used this concealer a couple of times now and totally love it. Review will be up soon.

Velvet touch Lipstick

One range of products which everybody is raving about from Gosh are their lipsticks. I actually thought of buying lipsticks and ended up buying all the other stuff. The lipstick I bought is the shade 010 Matt Smoothie, which is a perfect neutral pink shade which suits my skin tone so well. I have worn this a few times and love how long-lasting these are. Spreads on like butter but gives a matt finish, so good!

Forever lip shine

This is an amazing lip crayon, which has a fine tip when compared to other lip crayons. The shade I bought is 010 Lady like.

Velvet touch lip liners

I bought two lip liners 002 Antique Rose and 003 Cardinal Red, which are the closest match to the lipsticks I bought.

Forever metallic eye shadow stick

Ever since my Inaya came to my life, eye shadow sticks have been a boon for me, so easy to use and blend. So I can’t have enough of them. The shade I bought is Blue.

Rimmel London

Rimmel London is one of my favorite drugstore brands.

Kate Moss collection sculpting palette

I have been thinking of getting this one for a while now. The sculpting palette consists of a highlighter, a bronzer and a blush.

Magnif’eyes eyeshadow

This is another eye shadow stick which is two sided with two different shades. The shade I got is 002 Kissed by rose gold. Love the name, Kissed by rose gold.

Scandal eyes Lycra flex mascara

I can swear by the Rimmel Scandal eyes Rockin’ curves, love it so so much! But this time for a change thought of trying the Lycra flex, I have used it just once and I can tell this one is no competition to the Rockin’ curves, but just an average mascara.

Exaggerate eye liner

Just a normal eye liner.

Kate Moss long lasting Lipstick

The shade I bought is 106, which is a fuschia pink.

NYX Cosmetics

Nyx butter lipstick

I love this range from nyx! The shade I got is BLS12 Little Susie, which is a beautiful coral pink.

thebeautymascot/makeuphaul

Jumbo eye pencil

You might now think I am obsessed with eye shadow pencils. The jumbo eye pencil might be your favorite too. I bought my all time favorite shade 604 Milk and also 621A Pure Gold.

Karaja

Brush No.8

I don’t know about you, I have never heard about Karaja, my bad! I just got a smudging brush from the brand and I must say the brush is really good. A high quality brush.

Deborah Milano

Lipliner

The shade is 05, which compliments the Rimmel lipstick I bought.

These are the products I bought from Lifestyle, UAE. I will be using these products and will let you guys know how I feel.

DIY SHEA BUTTER BODY SCRUB

thebeautymascot/shea

I am a real fan of shea butters. I use it for my face, hair, lips, body, feet and hands. Sometimes for moisturizing, sometimes for healing various skin issues ;sometimes alone sometimes along with other ingredients; shea butter is one amazing product! I have used shea butter body scrub (no, not homemade but from a very good brand) in the past and I love it! But I keep on trying and experimenting with different products and diy’s so I use some others at the moment.  But a few days back I really missed my shea butter body scrub so I thought  instead of buying it I should make it at home. So I went through the ingredient list of my favorite shea butter body scrub for inspiration (Please don’t use the word copying,!) and made my own shea butter body scrub at home! (more…)

Tackling Thinning hair one vial at a time

Crescina Re-Growth HFSC 100% helps to stimulate the natural hair re-growth

Hair has always been considered an important part of a woman’s identity. Which is why panic ensues when we see strands of hair falling or globs of hair in the shower drain.

Thinning hair is becoming a growing problem amongst women due to several factors such as hormonal imbalance, balding gene, aging, using the wrong hair care products and the list goes on. To combat thinning hair, Crescina has introduced Crescina Re-Growth HFSC 100% which stimulates the bulb cells to produce new hair (Keratin).  The re-growth treatment is available in packaging of 10 vials each containing 3.5 ml of Crescina.

Different dosages of Crescina are formulated for different degrees;

  • For Initial Grades: Light or advanced thinning. Dosage 200
  • For Medium Grades: Serious thinning; Incipient Baldness and advanced incipient baldness. Dosage 500
  • For High Grades: Thinning similar to incipient baldness + vertex; advanced frontal baldness + vertex; extensive baldness. Dosage 1300

Key ingredients include CYSTEINE and LYSINE which are fundamental components of keratin. GLYCOPROTEIN, which accelerates the metabolism of the bulb cells and STEM-ENGINE COMPLEX which creates in the follicle a proper environment for stem cells that are responsible for new hair re-growth.

A Swiss patent formula for stimulating the physiological regrowth of hair, Crescina treatment is a product with FDA approval for hair growth, thinning hair and hair loss, which is sold only through selected pharmacies.

Crescina is available from leading pharmacies across the UAE, including Bin Sina from AED 790. For more information please visit: http://www.labosuisse.com.

TIME SAVING HAIR CARE TIPS USING COLOR WOW!

Color Wow is a complete line of professional colour care products designed to keep your hair looking like it did the first day it was coloured.Color Wow features a comprehensive line of products including Root Cover Up, Color Security Shampoo and Conditioner, Pop & Lock Shellac, One Minute Transformation Styling Cream and Brass Banned Mousse.

Time Saving Hair Styling Tips

1) GET TO THE CONVERSION POINT

No matter your hair type, blow-drying with a brush from soaking wet is often not necessary and can actually be a waste of time. Instead, let your hair partially air dry or rough dry your hair, using just your fingers, but no brush, until you reach the “conversion point”. The conversion point is the moment that your hair goes from wet to dry, and the point when the new shape/texture gets locked in. So that’s when you need to grab your brush and begin to blow dry, section-by-section. Aside from being a great time-saver, this method also helps reduce the excessive pulling and tugging that can lead to breakage and damage.

2) NIGHT TIME IS THE RIGHT TIME

If shampooing, conditioning, blow drying and styling are simply too much for you in the morning, wash your hair at night. Letting your hair air dry overnight reduces heat exposure, which can dehydrate hair and also accelerate colour fade. In the morning when you wake up and your hair is dry, if you have some unruly sections, use Color Wow One-Minute Transformation (75AED). Apply to any rough, frizzy sections and brush through with a flat brush. For very unruly areas, apply the cream to these sections. Then, using a round brush, give hair a quick hit from the blow dryer to create a more professional looking, blow dried look.

thebeautymascot/color wow

3) FOCUS ON THE CRUCIAL ZONES

Think about it…your hairline and your crown are by far the most important sections of hair and therefore “the Crucial Zones”. If you’re blow drying your hair with a brush, focus on these sections, making sure they look the most polished. The hairline frames the face. The crown represents the top layers of your hair. By concentrating only on these areas, you can create a polished look in a fraction of the time. The perfectly blown dry hair on the top will fall over the frizzy, unruly hair underneath. The only hair showing will be the smooth, silky top layer. You can help give your hair a little oomph with Color WOW Raise the Root Thicken & Lift (140AED) for all-day lift, body and volume.

thebeautymascot/color wow

4) GET EXTRA HELP

If you really want to cut down on drying time, you could cut your hair…or if you favour more practical solutions, you could use a product to speed up the process. Just be careful, about the product you choose. So many blow-dry sprays contain alcohol, which can be very detrimental to color-treated hair because it causes dehydration and makes it more susceptible to breakage. Color Wow Speed Dry Blow Dry Spray (140AED) is an alcohol-free, low pH formula that traps moisture inside hair and fills in the holes found on the surface of porous hair, to dry it faster, while making hair more flexible with an intense shine.

thebeautymascot/color wow

5) SKIP A STEP

If your styling plans involve the curling iron, don’t worry about smoothing your hair first. The heat from the iron will do that and this will often result in a more natural texture.

ABEECO BEE VENOM MASK REVIEW

thbeautymascot/bee venom mask

How does applying bee venom on your face sound to you? To be frank, I thought it was insane! That’s the reason why I have never even thought of trying it out until now, despite all the popularity it has been gaining through the years. I decided to give the bee venom mask a try when I got this one in my december glam box. I was curious to know how effective it would be on my skin. I have to admit, I was scared too. But then I made up my mind and decided to use it.  And after using the abeeco bee venom mask for more than two weeks now I thought this product must be reviewed. If you are interested in knowing more about the abeeco bee venom mask and how it works please continue reading.

Thank God! no bees are harmed in the process. Otherwise I would have never opted for this one. (more…)
